Unofficial "Prologue"Before I start the blog post, I'd like to apologize to my teacher, Mr. Bourgeois for interrupting class to make fun of him and his love for the Patriots. I'd also like to congratulate him on his Super Bowl victory. I hope you know that I was just joking around with you, and it got out of hand. Now let us get into the blog post! This weekThis week we have been finishing up on our Illustrator tutorials and starting on our logo making. I've had to go back to Photoshop to create the products for the logos. I've gone into Photoshop, and colored most of the game arts (the soldier, ship, and alien). Then what I'm going to do is put it into Illustrator and save it as a vector image so I can scale it. TechniquesI have learned techniques throughout this assignment. I learned how to use shadows and lighting to add motion to the image. I also learned some new coloring techniques, like using the magic wand or the lasso to select a certain area so I can color it all the same color. I learned way more, but those were the most important ones. I have never taken any art classes (that I can remember)-digital or reality-that have given me some skills outside of class. Software PreferencesI think that because I learned to use Photoshop first, and I HATE getting used to things, I have to go with Photoshop as my preference. I know to some people Illustrator is way easier to use because the main tool that we use in Illustrator is the pencil tool, which uses straight lines OR curved lines to create an image. For example, Shannon, who sits next to me, when we were doing our Illustrator tutorials, was meanwhile creating a masterpiece of a puppy with a bow on its back. I asked her if she had learned about Illustrator outside of class. She said "Nope! This is my first time!"

Over the past few months, we've been working with Photoshop. A few days ago, we started working with Illustrator. They are similar, but have some differences. DifferencesPhotoshop is less complicated than Illustrator. Photoshop uses Raster images, while Illustrator uses Vector images. Raster images can't be scaled, while Vector images can. Tools in Photoshop work differently in Illustrator. For example, the Paint Bucket in Illustrator will only fill live shapes. If you've worked in Photoshop, it may be really hard to work in Illustrator, concerning the tools. SimilaritiesPhotoshop and Illustrator are both made with Adobe. They also both have most of the same tools. They work differently, but they are the same tools. The Paint Brush tool, the Pencil tool, and the Shape tool work the same. There aren't There aren't as many similarities as differences between Photoshop and Illustrator, but those were a few.
